Tour description

The Orcia valley is a unique environment where man still at one with his surroundings, with which many Sienese Medieval and Renaissance artists fell in love. In this area many works of art are to be found: XIIth century monuments, town walls and very old hamlets like BagnoVignoni, whose Roman origin is witnessed by a Latin inscription on a travertine stone. At Bagno Vignoni hot springs originate from under the soil at a temperature of around 40°C, rich in sulphur and calcium. It still belongs to the Chigi family, who have owned it since 1170. We end up our itinerary visiting Tentennano strong hold, that shows how fortifications were made at that time and the way in which people defended themselves and resisted in case of sieges
