ABBADIA SAN SALVATORE WAITS FOR CHRISTMAS WITH “FIACCOLE”

ABBADIA SAN SALVATORE (SIENA), Between 5th December 2015 and 6th January 2016 in Abbadia San Salvatore will take place the event ‘Abbadia, City of Fiaccole’. Every year, at the beginning of December, traditional stacks of wood, with a pyramidal shape, called “fiaccole” are built, and at Midnight on 24th December, they are lit, and burn until dawn. People walk in the historical streets of the town, where they will warm up next to these huge bonfires, and taste typical dishes and foodstuffs.
